Introduction
Join a group of maximum 12 practitioners to explore this wonderful yoga science where we let movement, breath and sound carry us through our inner landscapes.
My methodology is based on the principle of Self Practice. This means that you do your yoga practice individually, in a group setting. The teachings are offered to each student individually.
The Group Classes are arranged into cycles of 6 weeks. I refer to each cycle as a Self Practice Cycle. Each cycle starts with an optional Workshop.
The shala is open to ALL LEVELS. In a small group setting there is space for individual attention to explain everything from the beginning, or explore more advanced options knowing that you will feel guided by the teacher as well as the supportive group energy.
If you have no prior knowledge, or you have only followed guided yoga studio classes, you are WELCOME.
Please do not let this hold you back from learning yoga in this traditional and very valuable way. All you need is a willingness and curiosity to learn and explore the yoga practice. If you are curious, but still not sure, please do not hesitate to contact me directly for a free consult.

About the Workshops
Over the years I have noticed that when students have the theoretic and phylosophical knowledge availble to them, they are more motivated to practice. Yoga is largely a practical science, however it also has a rich and extremely far reaching library of knowledge that supports this practice of understanding our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual being.
During workshops we will explore both theoretic and/or phylosophical knowledge in combination with practice.
To me, the knowledge can only be applied when it comes alive in practice and in life.
During the workshops we will look at how to make this possible.
During a Self-Practice-Cycle you are able to:
- Learn a basic yoga self-practice.
- Develop your yoga self-practice and discipline by showing up with & joining forces with fellow practitioners 1, 2 or 3 mornings per week.
- Take the next step from guided classes to exploring self-practice.
- Explore next steps in your practice, be it, advancing to new asanas or series, or deepening your understanding of breath and energetics and moving towards meditation.
- Develop a yoga practice taking into account any (old) injuries, your body type, your energy and not unimportant, your daily schedule and home situation.
- Take the first steps to developing a lifelong, sustainable self-practice under the guidance of an experienced teacher.

What is the methodology?
Group Classes are offered in the form of Self Practice Cycles.
Self Practice, because each student performs their practice individually, but in a group setting. This means that each students’ yoga practice may look different.
Cycle, because the group classes are arranged into cycles of 6-8 weeks.
Why arrange the classes in cycles of 6?
There are many different things that one can focus on during a Yoga practice.
In the beginning of each cycle the student comes up with an intention, or personal focus for their practice.
During the course of the cycle, your intention will orient your personal investigation of your Yoga practice.
This is called Sadhana.
At the beginning of every cycle, we revise your sadhana and adapt according to your needs and level.
How do I know what to practice?
If you are new to Yoga, or the Self Practice methodology, I recommend to start with a Private Class Package. With the smallest package of 4 classes we can already set the foundation for your personal practice. Private Class students have free access to the Group Classes, so you can already join after your first Private Class.
If you already have a personal practice you can join the Group Classes and continue as you are used to. Together with the teacher you can continue to develop your practice.
The general methodology is to give one technique, or asana (physical posture/excercice) at a time. This way it can be learned properly and be fully integrated into your personal practice.
Which style of yoga do you teach?
I do not like to talk in ‘styles’, but my background and personal practice is Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga and Hatha Yoga on a physical and energetic level. On the more subtle levels I teach techniques based on Hatha Yoga and Raja Yoga.
I offer a space where you can develop and explore YOUR personal practice. This means that we can develop a Yoga sequence that suits your needs.
My goal is to guide and support you in building a sustainable Yoga practice that honours your individuality, creativity and independence.
Do you teach Mysore Style?
Yes. However you are not bound to practice only the Asthanga sequences with me.
If you are practicing Ashtanga Yoga I am honoured to guide you in your practice. I can guide you in Primary and Second Series as these are the sequences that I have completed myself. However, I do request an openness to explore new and different techniques within your Ashtanga Practice. These are methods and techniques that I have studied and applied myself and I find that they have complemented my practice and amplified my understanding.
What does a typical class look like?
Each class consists of 30 minutes Guided Seated Practices and 90 minutes Self Practice.
Every cycle I guide a different set of Seated Practices such as Pranayama, Mantra or Chanting.
The seated practices set the tone for our Self Practice. They bring awareness and mindfullness to our physical practice.
After the Seated Practices, each student continues with their Self Practice. The duration of the Self Practice differs per student.
I am new to Yoga, which route do you recommend?
I highly recommend to start with a package of Private Classes.
During these classes we look at your individual situation and come up with a Practice Plan.
You are welcome to join the Group Classes for free in combination with your Private Class Package.
What is a Practice Plan?
This is your personal plan and guide for your yoga practice. For example, your Practice Plan can consist of a Yogasana sequence of physical postures, a sequence of breathing excercises and a mantra.
Each Practice Plan is adapted to the student individually.
During each Private Class we revise and adapt your plan if necessary.
How do I sign up for the Group Classes?

More information Workshops
For whom are the workshops?
Are you curious about Yoga and meditation? Or would you like to know more about what’s behind what you arleady practice? Then the workshops are for you!
You would like to deepen your knowledge and embark on a more in depth path of Self exploration.
The workshops are the perfect complement to your regular Yoga classes.
There are no prerequisites.
Are the workshops open to all levels?
Yes!
All you need to attend a workshop is a humble and receptive attitude.
It does not matter which level you think you have. There is always something to learn.
What is the schedule for the course?
There will be one workshop approximately every six weeks.
You can attend the workshop as a one time event.
But you can also take what you have learned and come and practice in the Group Classes, where the Self Practice method is applied.
Exact dates will be announced on the Schedule page.
Where do the workshops take place?
Workshop locations may vary.
Exact information will be on the page where you can sign up.
Most workshops take place in Amsterdam West area.
How many people can attend your workshops?
I work well with small groups.
I can connect better with each person and give more individual attention.
I think Yoga should be taught taking each individual into consideration, and as a teacher I do not have this capacity in groups larger than 12 people.
Do I need any additional materials to do this course?
That depends on your curiosity.
I will recommend a variety of books, but it is not required to do the course.
For the practical side of the course you will need a yogamat, and any additional props you need to sit comforably.
Of course a pen and a notebook will come in handy!
Are the workshops theoretical or practical?
During the workshops I will spend time on theory.
However, without the application in practice theory stays a mental concept. And in Yoga practice we are trying to calm the mental waves so we need to understand the knowledge in a practical way so that it becomes part of our being. We are developing wisdom and intuition which come from a non-mental/intellectual place.
Is it possible to do the workshop online?
If you would like to follow my workshop online, please reach out. We can discuss if this is possible.
However, presential classes are highly recommended as the interaction that takes place in the room cannot be experienced in the same way online.
How do I register for the workshops?
How wonderful that you are interested!
You can register here.
